Reopening!
Hello students, faculty, staff, landlords, and the general public! The Office of Off-Campus Housing Affairs officially reopened today in its new location, Condon Hall, Room 218. Located in the Husky Union Building for over 30 years, OCHA has moved for two years while the HUB undergoes an intensive remodeling. However, our services will continue in full strength throughout the coming months. A note regarding summer hours; we are open from 9:00am till 6:00pm, but actually "in-office" time will vary, as there is only one staff member on duty. If you need to meet in person, it is best to call ahead and schedule an appointment. Besides that, enjoy your summer and pay close attention to some of the projects and programs the Office of Off-Campus Housing Affairs has coming your way!

Closing time, Friends
As a heads up, our office in located in HUB G-10 will be closing it's doors for the next two years, as we are preparing for our big move to Condon Hall, room 218. We will continue offering our internet services (website listings, email, etc), however, our office itself will be closing Thursday, June 3rd. Our doors will be open again July 1st, 2010, under the new directorship of Mr. Joseph Salama. It has been an honor working as director this last year, and I have full confidence in the abilities of my successor to continue the great work we've accomplished this year and carry it on to even greater levels of awesome. Take care, and remember- get everything in writing!

Up and Comings!
We hope everyone had a great Spring Break! Now that spring is here, the sun is going to shine, class rooms are going to be really hot, and plans for summer are going to be made. Another something that should be carefully contemplated is housing, both on-campus and off. Don't let the idea of finding housing stress you out! Off-Campus Housing Affairs is here to help! This week, April 22nd, we are partnering with ASUW's Experimental College to present a workshop called "Off-Campus Living 101" that will deal with all the issues you might be worried about, such as landlord-tenant information, fees and deposits, and last but not least- how to start looking! We will be discussing all of these issues and more in a informational, yet inviting atmosphere, where questions are openly encouraged!
visit the Experiemental College's "ASUW Entity Workshop Series" webpage at
Feel free also to also email our office with any questions!
Best regards,
Mike Snowden, Director

MTV's True life wants to come to Seattle!
True story! MTV has contacted me to spread the word about their latest in-progress series of Truelife: I have roommate issues. What they are looking for is the acknowledgement of the universal constant: roommate issues. Issues may even be a strong word for it, but MTV is looking for people with conflicts with those they live with. This does not have to mean the environment is hostile, loud, or truly uncomfortable, what it means is there is obviously something that doesn't click between one or more roommates, and they want to record it and show everyone else that they are not alone in their roommate situations! Here's an example of what we're talking about:
*Political differences*
*Cleanliness issues*
*Sexual orientation differences*
*Space issues*
and more!
Essentially, if you feel that their is some sort of conflict between you and your roommate(s), let us know! If you and your roommate(s)qualify and are comfortable being "documentisized" AKA being filmed, then you may be featured on MTV's presentation of the acclaimed documentary series True Life!
Contact us at asuwocha@uw.edu if you have questions, comments, or you feel up to volunteering for the show!
Oh, and check this link out for more information on the documentary series
All the best,
Mike Snowden, Director

New Year, New Quarter, New Happenings!
I hope everyone's holiday season was one of relaxation, family, and good times. And eggnog. But eggnog jokes aside, here are some announcements of what we plan on doing this upcoming quarter!
Tabling
We will be out on the HUB lawn every Tuesday and Thursday. We will be there with information for renters, for roommate-searchers, and to answer questions anyone might have. This will begin next Tuesday, January 19th.
Expanding Outreach
We're looking to expand OCHA with goals to let everyone know what it is we do. Tabling will be one facet for this, as well as numerous other ideas that our office has been coming up with. Keep your eyes out for the Big Red Couch that is OCHA!
EXPERMENTAL COLLEGE ENTITY WORKSHOP
This one is a BIGGIE! We are teaming up with the ASUW entity
That's enough chit-chat for now! Keep your eyes open for us on the HUB lawn and don't be afraid to stop by!

Landlords! Tenants! Lend us your thoughts!
We are looking to redesign some of the formats for which some, if not most, our business is conducted through. On our end, that means changing the search options around to better accommodate tenant searches, and redesigning our housing forms (Linked below) to allow for more information exchange between us and you area landlords! But we cannot do this without you! Next time you visit us on the web, think to yourself on how we can improve our search options and let us know! Take a look at our housing forms and try to figure out if there is anything missing, and please, let us know! We're going to be doing the same thing on our end and with your input, we can make Off-Campus Housing searching AND posting much more efficient and accessible to all!
Thank you for your time and effort in helping to make OCHA a better organization!

Our office hours will take affect on the first day of Fall Quarter- September 30th, 2009. We look forward to helping all parties, landlords and tenants, to the very best of our abilities! We hope the summer season treated everyone well and the beginning of Fall quarter brings all of you the very best! OCHA Director Mike Snowden
